I am just a girl with a plan, lots of plans most days. Some of those plans, it isn’t unusual to have someone looking at me like…. Well you know the look, the one that has the little raised eyebrow and a somewhat smirk on the face. The one that says they kind of think maybe you have fallen off your rocker, look. That maybe you are really crazy, look. Have you seen that look before?
I had several new and exciting things happening at once and rather quickly, happening at Two Hip Chicks Marketplace. So I had to come up with a plan. The first one was I would be carrying a new paint line, Country Chic Paint. You probably already know the details of how the paint I was stocking went out of business. (If not you can read more on it here.) The second being I was moving from a little bitty 35 square foot space to a 120 square foot space. (Squeal) In all of this excitement, I realized, I needed more display pieces and fast.
You know that moment…
You see that perfect, rusty treasure from across the way. All sound disappears, your eyes are locked on it and you can see nothing, but that rusty goodness. That treasure, you didn’t know you were looking for, but know it was meant to be. It was put there just for you to find! Your heart starts beating a little faster. Your feet picks up the pace and they begin to move on their own accord. You are standing there in front of it and you know, you are not leaving there without it.
Yes, that moment… I had no idea, I was looking for a rusty truck door. I went out looking that day for something to use for some new booth displays. But… there it was!
It is rusty, a little beat up, it been around the block, more than a time or two. I’m sure it has countless stories to tell about all the adventures it has been on. It is the perfect fit for our new logo. It fits right in with our brand. It is full of Vintage Charm. Oh yes, it is coming home with me!
Prince Charming took it to the car wash and washed out all the old dirt and the crime off it and it is now waiting to be painted.
I couldn’t make up my mind, how I really wanted to paint it. So we finally just decided to make the door to match the door on the logo. SVC on the door is grey and of course the truck isn’t rusty, but didn’t want to paint the door, and lose all the rusty charm. We decided to just paint SVC in Bliss, a paint color from Country Chic Paint. Gave it a good spay of Poly. The Polycrylic popped out the old lettering that was previously on the door and I was a little alarmed at first, but decided that it was part of the original door and decided it only helped to add to its rusty, vintage charm.
It is now home and a part of our décor for our vendor booth location at Two Hip Chicks Marketplace, in Norman, Oklahoma.
Don’t you just love when you find an unexpected cute little treasure? On a Saturday while out buying supplies we decided to stop at a little flea market nearby. Sometimes those spur of the moment stops turn out to be some of my favorite treasured finds. We spotted this cute little replica of a Milking Stool. Knowing that I had a sample package of Country Chic Paint on the way, I thought it would be the perfect little project.
FINALLY, a Decision has been made!
Oh the struggles were real! We were so heartbroken, over no longer being able to carry our beloved Prairie Colors, after they went out of business. But we picked ourselves up, dusted ourselves off and…. well you get the picture, right? We began the journey of researching, applying for wholesale applications, and trying out samples in our commitment to offer you the best for your painting needs. While we found lots of paint companies out there and they are all pretty wonderful. The choices were tough and the decisions making process wasn’t fun, to say the least. After much thought and what I felt was the closest to what we had been using and selling to our customers was… Country Chic Paint.
We are so excited! We have a fresh new logo to start off 2017, as we begin a new year of re-branding adventures. We love the new logo and hope that it says,,, who we are, where we have been, and where we are going. Things change and evolve over time, but our love for vintage, farmhouse and country life remain the same.
I am Shelley, the person that created and brought Shell's Vintage Charm to life. A creative dream come true. I consider myself so lucky to be following my passion of being a creative entrepreneur. I wear many hats in this wonderful thing called life, I am business owner, wife, mother, and a Grammy. However, I will be the first to admit that I could not do it without the help of my wonderful supportive husband, Frankie. He stands behind my crazy ideas, builds designs, and works along beside me to make my dreams come true.
The old truck in the logo somewhat resembles Frankie's old blue truck. We love his old truck (although, it still need lots of work). We hope it stands for us, but most importantly we want our logo to stand for small town values, country living, family values, and products for you to make your house a home with Vintage Charm.
So I will be blogging along the way with things all pertaining to the above, DIY tutorials, and decorating tips for your to also get your creative juices flowing. Oh and yes, I am sure I will continue to throw in some touches of romantic notions, with lace and all that good stuff. We hope to have a fresh new look to our website, soon. So please forgive our construction mess and process during our growing spurt.
You just never know what you might get with me, as I have my own touch of Vintage Charm. I want to thank you all so much for your support and hope that you will come along with us for the many new adventures and products to come.
